His face was merely just a few inches away from me, and I could feel his warm and moist breath close to my neck. His big brown eyes stared into my face, twinkling with great expectation. The time stopped, and the ticking of clock faded away into the background. Tension was in the air.

Then, I made the next move.
"Sorry buddy," said I and gulped down the last piece of toast I had in my left hand. A few seconds after witnessing with a horrifying look as the golden piece disappeared into my mouth, I heard his big snort of disgust, his version of cursing under his breath.

However, he stopped sulking when he got his dog food soon after.

彼の顔が数センチと言うほどの所にあった。そして、彼の生暖かく、湿った息が私の首をくすぶる。彼の大きな茶色の瞳が、私の顔を見つめ、期待に満ちていた。
時は止まり、時計の針の音が消え去り、張り詰めた空気が二人を包み込んだ。

だが、始めに手を打ったのは、この私であった。
「早いもん勝ち！」と言い、左手にあった最後のトーストを飲み込んだ。
黄金色の物体が私の口の中に消え去っていったのを恐ろしそうに見ていた数秒後、彼は、大きい鼻息を鳴らした。きっと、彼バージョンの悪口であろう。

しかし、そのすぐ後ほどに100% むっつり顔の彼がドッグフードを嬉しそうに食べていた。
